Golden Globe organisers have issued an apology for mistakenly stating Anne Hathaway as the winner of the Best Actress category on its website.
An asterisk had appeared to the star’s name in the list of nominees – even though the award ceremony was to take place on January 11.
According to the statement on the website, the actress, who is nominated for ‘Rachel Getting Married’, had been “randomly marked as a winner” by accident, reports the BBC.
The statement said: “In the process of preparing for Sunday’s Golden Globe Awards, a technician working on the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s (HFPA) website made a mistake and a name of a nominee was randomly marked as a winner.

ANNE Hathaway may look like butter wouldn’t melt in her mouth but, like her Bride Wars character, the Golden Globe nominee’s sweetness hides a stern core.
If you believe Anne Hathaway, she’s not glamorous, not a role model and potentially not employable.
The 26-year-old — whose classic style, porcelain skin, dark doe eyes and Julia Roberts-like smile have made her a favourite on the red carpet — may be one of the movie industry’s most in-demand young actors . . . but don’t go telling her that.
‘‘I am facing unemployment squarely in the face,” she says, in a sing-song saccharine voice. Read the full article »
DO I know any addicts, Anne Hathaway wants to know. Oh, good grief. It’s not the question that’s disconcerting; it’s the person framing it. With her tidy image and innocent smile, 26-year-old Hathaway is best known for flying the girl-next-door flag in The Devil Wears Prada or playing fairy-tale princesses in Ella Enchanted and The Princess Diaries.
Her question comes in the wake of one of her latest roles, a rehab patient on a weekend pass to her sister’s wedding in Rachel Getting Married. And she is surprised by my reaction. “I know this seems enormously short-sighted, but to be perfectly frank, I had no idea how strongly I was connected to the image of a good girl,” says Hathaway, flashing that smile. “When I took the role, I just thought, ‘This is a great opportunity for me as an actress.’ I didn’t think, ‘Wow, what a great chance to shake up people’s perception of me.’” Read the full article »

More than 24 hours after the Hollywood Foreign Press Assn.’s website seemed to reveal Anne Hathaway as winner for best actress, the group has finally addressed questions about whether someone made a simple typo or a major blunder.
On Thursday evening, someone in Honduras paid a visit to the HFPA website, clicked on a link marked “nominations and winners” and found that one category listed not only its nominees but also denoted its winner (by highlighting and putting a star next to it) a full three nights before the 66th annual Golden Globes ceremony at which the winners of all categories were supposed to be announced.
If the spoiler snafu is true of the aforementioned category, best actress in a motion picture drama, then Hathaway (“Rachel Getting Married”) will prevail over fellow nominees Angelina Jolie (“Changeling”), Meryl Streep (“Doubt”), Kristin Scott Thomas (“I’ve Loved You So Long”) and Kate Winslet (“Revolutionary Road”).
