Anne Hathaway is making the transition from actress to producer. The star has closed a deal to produce and topline Puzzler, a thriller set up at Paramount.
The project is described as a female-driven, paranoid thriller in the vein of Three Days of the Condor. Karl Gajdusek, who wrote the recent Nicolas Cage-Nicole Kidman thriller Trespass, will pen the script. The project would mark Hathaway’s first producing effort. Joining her as producers are Adam Shulman, Sarah Perlman and Stefan Sonnenfeld, who has a first-look deal with Paramount.
Hathaway’s recent credits include One Day, Love and Other Drugs and Alice in Wonderland. She co-hosted the Oscars in February and will star as Catwoman in next summer’s The Dark Knight Rises.
Perlman and Sonnenfeld are producing the planned Lionsgate thriller Dead Island, based on a popular video game.
Hathaway is represented by CAA and Management 360. Gajdusek is represented by Verve and Management 360.
Anne Hathaway has closed a deal to join Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe in Les Miserables, the Universal Pictures and Working Title Films musical adaptation of the stage play and classic novel. Hathaway will play Fantine, and her participation had been rumored for some time. Crowe plays Inspector Javert and Jackman is Jean Valjean. The film’s being directed by Tom Hooper, who helmed the Oscar-winning The King’s Speech.
Universal has set the picture for release in the center of next year’s Oscar race with a December 7, 2012 date. Cameron Mackintosh is producing with Working Title’s Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner and Debra Hayward. William Nicholson wrote the script and the music is by Claude-Michel Schonberg and Alain Boublil. Hathaway is currently playing Catwoman in the Chris Nolan-directed The Dark Knight Rises for Warner Bros.
It seems like the end of summer brings nothing but news of remakes and casting rumors. Most of them seem lackluster, but the rumor of Anne Hathaway in a major role in the upcoming Les Miserables adaptation will pique a lot of interest. If cast, she would join Hugh Jackman, who, according to The Playlist, is insisting that Hathaway be cast.
Right now it is all speculative, but the Academy Award nominated actress has been known to choose a wide variety of films, but has yet to try her talents in a musical. Other casting rumors include Amy Adams for the same role as Hathaway. Russell Crowe and Paul Bettany have been linked to a role as well.

WB has released another photo of Anne as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, this time a full length posed shot from a promotional photoshoot. As one of our visitors mentioned in a comment about the other photo we posted yesterday, this is likely a transitional form to the full Catwoman costume. What are your thoughts now that you’ve seen a full length shot?
Edit: The photo has since been proven to be a (pretty well done) manipulation using a promo from Tomb Raider. Sorry guys! I will leave it in the gallery but rename the album to something else to avoid further confusion.

We finally have our first trailer for Anne’s upcoming movie One Day. I’m a big fan of the book and can’t wait to see this!
Twentieth Century Fox had a press day to promote their upcoming movie Rio which of course features Anne as the voice of Jewel. I’ve added a small batch of MQ images to the gallery with more to come soon (hopefully in HQ as well).
Edit: All but two of the previously added MQ photos have been replaced with HQ versions. In addition, over 50 new HQ and over 60 new MQ photos have been added. (Make sure you refresh your screen as most of the first 14 MQ images have been replaced with different photos).

When I made my first post announcing that Anne had been cast as Catwoman in the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises, it was literally seconds after the official announcement and not much was known. Here is some more information:
Hathaway was on the the list of actresses which tested for the role in recent weeks, along with Jessica Biel and Keira Knightley, as revealed by Heat Vision.
The test involved Christian Bale, who had to leave his National Board of Review in New York dinner early so he could catch a flight back to LA. to conduct.
The announcement didn’t actually name Hathaway’s character as Catwoman, which keeps in line with Nolan’s more grounded approach to the movie series.
Michelle Pfeiffer starred as Kyle/Catwoman in Tim Burton’s Batman Returns.
The character, as interpreted by Burton, was a meek secretary who becomes empowered after she is almost killed and left for dead.
Pfeiffer played her with a mix of repression and sensuality, with the character breaking out as a symbol of female empowerment and becoming a pop culture sensation.
In his interpretation, Nolan has been giving his characters a deeper and darker psychological edge.
Nolan and his team of writers (he wrote the screenplay with his brother Jonah Nolan, from a story by Nolan and David S. Goyer) have taken some inspiration for their take on Batman from the classic Batman: Year One storyline by Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli, by way of asking, “What if the story continued?”
The Catwoman in Year One was a prostitute-dominatrix who helps Batman even as he inadvertently inspires her to don a costume and embark on a life of crime.
Warner gave no indication if this was Nolan’s take on the character.

Filming is planned to start in May and the film is scheduled to open in July of 2012.
Anne Hathaway showed her support during a recent evening with The Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia & Parkinson Foundation where she addressed her role as a Parkinson’s patient in her new film Love & Other Drugs. The Bachmann-Strauss Foundation invited their generous supporters to join Anne Hathaway over an intimate dinner at Il Postino, followed by a screening of her movie at The Japan Society. Anne introduced the film by speaking about her experience playing the character of Maggie, the importance of bringing awareness to both Parkinson’s disease and dystonia and how proud she is to be involved with The Bachmann-Strauss Dystonia & Parkinson Foundation.

Finally started working on the gallery transfer again. Today’s update is dedicated to Anne’s first movie, The Princess Diaries. I’ve replaced all screencaptures that we currently had with DVD quality versions. Several stills have been replaced with HQ versions plus a few new additions have been added as well. The best part of this update is the addition of some extremely rare photos from the promotional photoshoot. These are very hard to find and I ask that you please credit us if you post them elsewhere.
