Anne Hathaway is turning into a man! Don’t jump off your seats, for the actress is just doing an open-air production of Shakespeare’s play Twelth Night, in which she cross-dresses as a male.
The actress has taken up the role of Viola, who spends most of the play disguised as a man.
The actress will make her debut on June 9 in the month-long production at Central Park’s Delacorte Theater in New York, reports Contactmusic.
The actress has earlier performed on the New York stage in 2002, when she starred in a concert production of the musical Carnival.
And surprisingly, William Shakespeare’s own wife was also named Anne Hathaway.

Ever been to one of those weddings that just will not end?
“Rachel Getting Married” is the cinematic equivalent, a movie with a powerful performance from Anne Hathaway but a story undone by the self-indulgence of director Jonathan Demme, who loiters interminably on some scenes.
Demme’s detours into documentaries (“Neil Young: Heart of Gold,” “Jimmy Carter: Man From Plains”) actually serve him well as he crafts a loose, docudrama style that infuses great authenticity into this anguished reunion tale of family and friends.

Happily, Bride Wars wasn’t the ’09 setback we feared for Anne Hathaway, but rather a minor detour on her way to the coveted, gender-bending Shakespearean promised land.
New York’s Public Theatre announced today that Hathaway would appear in this summer’s Shakespeare in the Park production of Twelfth Night — its sixth mounting of the comedy, but no doubt the first featuring the Oscar-nominated ex of a faux-Vatican CFO. As a man. Sort of: Hathaway will play the female lead Viola, shipwrecked with her identical twin Sebastian in the mythical dukedom of Illyria. Mistaken identity, servitude and cross-dressing ensue, and Viola falls in love with the Duke. Whose role hasn’t yet been cast, we hear, though let’s be honest: If ever there were a time for Hathaway and Frank Langella to settle their filthy unfinished business, this would be it.

With the awards season in full swing now, female stars are under a lot of pressure to look as good as possible on the red carpet. Anne Hathaway is also one of them and, as recently revealed, she has turned to David Kirsh’s Thermo Bubbles to shed the extra pounds in the most natural way available.
Thermo Bubbles ($40 for 10 servings) is a herbal drink that is said to “melt away the fat naturally,” while also boosting energy levels and the metabolism. Made with extracts from various plants, the Thermo Bubbles comes as a powder that is then mixed with water to make for a delicious, healthy and almost calorie-free (only 10 calories per serving) drink that helps women in their constant battle against the pounds.
