Carell says they made ‘a real spy movie with real villains’ — and that meant real stunts for the stars.

“Get Smart” is a spy spoof in the “Austin Powers” tradition, made to cash in on the overnight fame of Steve Carell. Co-stars Anne Hathaway and Dwayne Johnson enjoyed cracking jokes and then heading back to their trailers as professional stuntmen acted out their action scenes. It’s a big, dumb, traditional summer blockbuster, filled to the brim with fart jokes.

And if you believe any of that, well, you’ve missed it by that much.

“I had just done ‘Anchorman,’ ” Carell recalled of landing the role of Maxwell Smart, which raised eyebrows back in 2005, before “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “The Office” had made him a household name. “I went to this thinking it was an audition. Actress Anne Hathaway’s businessman ex-boyfriend Raffaello Follieri has hit out at reports their split was caused by his controversial business dealings.

Hathaway reportedly dumped her long-term lover over the weekend, fearing his headline-grabbing antics could sabotage her burgeoning career.

The “Get Smart” star had stood by her man throughout their four-year relationship, during which Follieri has been caught up in a host of scandals, most recently last week, when it was revealed the children’s charity he runs was under investigation by New York authorities. Read the full article »

Funny guys Mike Myers and Steve Carell aren’t the only stars duking it out this weekend when their comedies “The Love Guru” and “Get Smart” open. So are their popular, glam leading ladies Jessica Alba and Anne Hathaway.

Alba, who has kicked major butt in such TV shows and movies as “Dark Angel” and the “Fantastic Four” franchise in which she plays Sue Storm, goes comedic as the owner of the Toronto Maple Leafs hockey club who inexplicably falls under the spell of Guru Pitka (Myers), a Pillsbury doughboy- shaped guru who has worn a chastity belt since he was a preteen.
